Recladding
Recladding is an excellent way to protect your home, improve its appearance, and increase its long-term value. Every project is different, but the most common reasons people choose to reclad include:
- Replacing existing cladding that has failed and is allowing water to penetrate the building.
- As part of a larger renovation or home extension.
- Updating cladding that has reached the end of its service life.
- Refreshing the look of the home with a modern new exterior.
Recladding also provides an opportunity to make other worthwhile improvements to your home. Many people choose to upgrade their windows and doors (joinery) and improve wall insulation while the cladding is removed, creating a warmer, healthier, and more energy-efficient home.
The complexity of a recladding project depends on the design of the house. Homes with straightforward wall layouts are generally simpler to reclad, while homes with multiple junctions, architectural features, or complex detailing require more careful planning and workmanship.
Most recladding projects require Building Consent. We work with experienced designers who can prepare the required plans and manage the consent application process. Once approvals are in place, we can manage the entire project from start to finish, including; Preparing an initial cost estimate, complete project management, coordinating all subcontractors, managing council inspections and Obtaining the Code Compliance Certificate upon completion.
If your existing cladding has failed and there is damage to the underlying timber framing, we have extensive experience repairing these issues. Every home is assessed individually, and the extent of any damage will determine the repair process.
